George Crown has been a student of the arts all his life. He specializes in watercolor painting and illustration. George studied and received his bachelor's degree from Principia College. He received his "Masters" and "Masters of Fine Arts" degree from Bowling Green State University. His teaching career started on the secondary level before moving on to teach and administer the art department at Edison Community College in Piqua, Ohio.
Currently George and his wife Barbara own the Waterfront Shoppe
and Crown Studio on Harsens Island in Michigan. This resort community is located 25 miles north of Detroit on the St. Clair River, which is part of the international shipping waterway.
Combining dramatic lighting and atmospheric conditions, along with strong design, George's nautical watercolor paintings capture the romance of shipping life on the Great Lakes.
